Die cutting machines are becoming increasingly popular for quilting and applique and over the next few months we will be looking at models and features available.
Magazines and trade fairs are awash with devices to make the crafters’ life easier. Top among the products
currently available are die cutting machines which offer a faster alternative for cutting repetitive or awkward shapes.
Originally designed for paper and card crafting, other artesans are now seeing the benefit of these machines.
Using off the shelf, pre formed dies, complex shapes can now be easily cut from a wide range of materials.
Key decisions for the crafter to make when deciding which machine is suitable are;
- Size of cut pieces required
- Materials to cut
Currently it would appear that 6 machines are available in the UK of which, two are electric/electronic and 4 are manually operated.
